"Until you make the unconscious, conscious, it will direct your life." - Carl Jung

You might be initially hesitant to seek out help and support for personal matters. There are so many myths and generalization about 'going to therapy', but if the mind and body are connected why should attending to your physical health take a front seat to mental health? What takes place in our thoughts and emotions has both a mental AND physical affect, and somatic symptoms of mental health can include insomnia, stomach/intestinal issues, head aches, stiffness in the joints, memory issues, pain and adrenal insufficiency.

Just reading this is taking a courageous first step towards getting to a more balanced place in your life.

About Cheri Slaughter

Hi there, my name is Cheri Slaughter and I am a licensed clinical social worker here in Colorado. My unique background includes an undergraduate degree in biology that I used for early careers in a clinical laboratory, tissue donation and as a coroner investigator. After spending time talking with individual and families who were experiencing grief and loss I took what I believed then to be a left turn for a pursuit to a masters degree in social work. Turns out the two blend very well into somatic therapy. Our bodies and minds have never been 'dis' connected and perhaps we are only re-learning what it is to see them as connected. The social and physical sciences do not have to be differentiated. They paint a full and whole picture of who we are. This is my pursuit; to assist in reuniting who we truly are as one whole being, as a part of nature and community.

Thanks for reading and I certainly hope we get a chance to meet!
